Angelica Sypal-Kohout

I first heard about Explorations in my final year of high school right before I entered University.  I was interested in the program after I heard about what it had to offer from a student who was already enrolled.  He recommended that I should also enroll because the program would allow me to approach my first year academic experience differently than all the other students entering university at that time.

Once I was in Explorations, I realized that the cohort program was the foundation of Explorations. It was what made me feel like my involvement and participation in class mattered. The structure of being able to work in small groups and move from one class to another with the same students gave me the courage to initiate conversation with my classmates, and having contact with professors gave me an immediate support system.

The Explorations program helped me learn the primary skills required for academic success at university. In my first year I took a combination of Explorations and business courses, and I believe it was Explorations that allowed me to smoothly transition from high school to university.
